Similar to stocks, the internet also has trends. Traffic has trends and therefore internet marketing has trends also. Such trends, if taken advantage of, make you hundreds of dollars and really up your customer base. But just like real world trends, if you don’t jump on these online trends quickly enough, you’ll find yourself left behind.

One of the biggest marketing trends going on currently involved social networks like Faceboo, Twitter, MySpace, and Friendster. These social networks are all similar in nature where in users sign up for a free profile and can post information about themselves, their likes, what they do for a living, etc. Usually, these social networks let users also post pictures and videos. Once they’ve made their profile, they can search for other people and add them as their friends.

The whole point of these social networking sites is to get in contact with family, friends, classmates, acquaintances, and, sometimes, total strangers. By creating a profile for your business and adding people as your friends, you can get the word out there to millions. Businesses has a separate legal entity by itself. I’m not a lawyer but I remember reading it somewhere, and therefore one can treat is as a unique entity separate from your own identity. Therefore, it is always nice to create separate social networking accounts for your business. (more…)

eBay Business – Manage a Full-Time Job and an eBay Business

Published: Oct 8th, 2009 | Author: Alex Bhaswara Add Comment

Working a full-time job and running a profitable eBay business can be a real challenge. Some people seem to handle it with ease while others struggle. I did this for a number of years, and although we were successful, it was a struggle. Of course, I had an advantage – my wife Karen. The truth be told, she did by far most of the work. If you are married with a spouse that stays at home, this is a significant advantage. Many of you, however, either have no spouse or your spouse also works. This means that you are essentially on your own.

Issues to Consider When Contemplating an eBay Business

The first question you need to ask yourself is: Are you looking for a hobby or a business? If it is a hobby or a very part-time business whose goal is to make a extra hundred dollars a month or so, then you will have a fairly easy time balancing the hours you spend at work and your eBay business. However, if you are running a business designed to earn $1,000 a month or more, then you have different issues.

Another question to ask yourself is: What are my long-term goals? If your job and your career is important to you, then this must always take first priority. If, on the other hand, you are in a boring or dead-end job, then you need to plan for your success and how and when you will leave your job and do eBay full time (as thousands have done before you).

If keeping your full-time job is your priority, you also need to factor in the type of employment you have and your employer’s policies. People who work outside for a living rarely have an opportunity to check a computer during the day. Office employees, however, are usually connected to the web at work. Many employers today have very strict policies about using your computer at work to transact personal business. There is also the issue of simple integrity. Is it fair to your employer to do outside business while you are being paid to work by the company? Some employers don’t mind if employees use a computer for personal web surfing during their lunch hour or breaks. If this is the case, then you will be able to check emails and auctions a couple of times a day from your office.

eBay Secrets: Tips to Make Higher Profits on eBay

Published: Oct 6th, 2009 | Author: Alex Bhaswara Add Comment

One of the secrets to making money on eBay is to reduce your costs, fees and expenses. Here are ten eBay secrets to help you make more profits on eBay. Many of these are very simple and easy to implement. If you do all of them your savings can really add up and your eBay profits will increase.

1. Save eBay Photo Hosting and Scheduling Fees

There are two fees paid by almost every eBay seller that you can reduce or avoid altogether. The first is the photo hosting fee. eBay gives you the first picture free. After that they charge 15-cents per photo. Since I always use at least 3 or 4 photos in a listing, this can add up. The other is the scheduling fee. eBay charges 10-cents when you schedule an auction to list at a specific time. Unless you can create and launch your auctions at exactly the right time of day, almost every seller uses this service. You can avoid or reduce these by using an auction management service to launch your auctions and host your photos. A free program is Auctiva at Auctiva.com. A low cost program -and the one I prefer is InkFrog at InkFrog.com. Although Auctiva is free, I prefer InkFrog at $9.95 a month as you get a lot more services and features that easily make the extra little expense worth the while.

2. Pay your eBay fees using a credit card with a cash back program.

This is not exactly an eBay secret, but it is amazing how many people pass up this free source of money. Check your credit cards to see which ones offer a cash back program. Using these types of programs can result in between 1.5% and 3% credits back to your card. Some sellers prefer to get airline points, but personally I always go for the cash. I have a card that pays a 2.5% cash-back credit. Last year it saved me $726 in fees.
